Call for Projects: Creation Africa Ghana at Annecy 2025

Creation Africa Ghana is excited to share an exceptional opportunity for Ghanaian animation professionals to present their market-ready projects at the renowned Annecy International Film Festival in France. 

We are accepting submissions in several categories, including Feature Films, Short Films and TV Series, aiming to highlight the best of Ghanaian animation talent. 

The selected projects will be invited to participate in an exclusive workshop in Accra and secure representation at the Annecy Festival’s market, MIFA, with a dedicated Ghanaian booth.

CALENDAR:

  • Project submission deadline: April 21st, 2025
  • Announcement of selected projects: May 5, 2025
  • Project Workshop: May 31 & June 1, 2025
  • Annecy 2025: June 8 – 14, 2025

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

A jury featuring industry experts from France and Ghana will review complete submissions that adhere to the outlined regulations, evaluating them based on the following criteria: 

  • Innovation/Originality: Project’s ability to introduce a novel theme/concept/idea/storyline 
  • Market Potential: Assessment of the project’s ability to cater to the interest of its indicated target audience 
  • Creativity: Evidence of creative prowess, through submitted visual and written elements 
  • Project Viability: Presentation of a sound budget and evidence of work done and/or a plan for future development and execution 
  • Relevance: Evaluation of the submitted project’s ability to address the stated aims/intentions of the author/director 
  • Visual Appeal: Assessment of the project’s visual craft/representation 

Up to 5 project holders will be selected to participate in an exclusive workshop in Accra, focusing on honing pitching skills crucial for festival presentations. Special attention will be given to applications from female animators.

In addition, selected project holders will receive full sponsorship from Creation Africa Ghana covering the following expenses: flights, accommodation, visa fees, travel insurance, accreditation and local allowance

SUBMISSION TERMS:

  • Submission is open to projects in development, advanced stages, or fully developed for market readiness. 
  • Each studio is invited to submit ONE project only. This ensures a fair selection process and allows for a diverse representation of studios and projects. If selected, only one project holder per studio will be chosen to participate in the workshop and to represent the studio at Annecy. 
  • Only complete projects will be considered 
  • The digital file must be uploaded as a single PDF file not exceeding 50 MB. Applications including more than one document won’t be considered.
  • Registration is free of charge

AUTHORIZATION TO BROADCAST: By accepting the regulations, entrants grant the organizer permission to reproduce and showcase project elements for promotional purposes.

DISPUTES: Participation implies unconditional agreement with the regulations.

MANDATORY DOCUMENTS:

  1. NARRATIVE ELEMENTS:
    • Project Introduction: Title, representative image, format, target audience.
    • Synopsis: A concise summary of the story.
    • Project Treatment: Detailed description of the story.
    • Project Concept: Graphical and musical treatment, atmosphere, references.
    • Author/Director’s Intention Outline: Origin of the project, aims/intentions.
    • Project Advancement Outline: Current phase, forthcoming stages, objectives, eventual contracted commitments (mention the producer's name if applicable).
    • Budget Details: Provisional budget, percentage secured, ongoing funding research.
  1. GRAPHIC ELEMENTS:
    • Storyboard: Full or partial.
    • Available Graphic Elements: Backgrounds/sets, characters, model sheets, graphic research materials, references, etc.
    • Additional Artistic or Production Elements: First images, trailer/teaser, etc.
  1. ADMINISTRATIVE ELEMENTS:
    • Author(s) CV(s).
    • Copyright Situation: Statement explaining the copyright situation or transfer of rights statement if the topic is taken from an existing work.
